Bio-Wash preserves vegetables and allows them to stay fresh longer

Fresh - Also without cooling during Storage or Transport:

Willich – Freshness is the decisive quality feature for the marketing of fruit and vegetables. Who, after all, wants to buy products which on display already look old and rotten? Especially bio products often have a disadvantage in this case, even though they are grown without chemicals and in fact are much healthier. Innoway has developed a procedure through which the goods stay fresh much longer even without cooling. The Food supplier Fenaco in Switzerland has tested the Innoway Fresh-Method over the course of several weeks and has now adopted it for the production of potatoes and carrots.

Right after harvest the products go through a sort of bio-wash. Germs which lead to rot are killed off naturally this way. Fruit and vegetables stay fresh for up to one week longer. An additional advantage of the treatment: If the transport takes longer because of customers abroad, one does not need to pay for air freight all the time. Often the conventional method by road or railway is sufficient to deliver the goods in fresh condition.

The amazing fact about this disinfection method used by Innoway: Only ingredient are used which are approved as food additives under the legal regulations of the EU-guidelines as well as the Drinking Water Ordinance. Toxic substances are taboo. The organic substances used by Innoway – carboxylic acid and oxidants occurring in nature – hamper the metabolism of the germs and thereby kill the microorganisms. Extensive laboratory tests have proven: This procedure does not leave detrimental residua.

The potatoes arrive fresh from the field and are passed through a water bath mixed with the Innoway-disinfectant, Secuvital, and cleaned. After that, they are packaged. If the goods are not directly shipped to the customer, but are supposed to be stored first, the same product is used. In this case, the treatment of the unwashed potatoes takes place via a spraying system. Thus the Innoway-agent is spread throughout the whole storage room and reaches the potatoes via a fine mist even through the smallest gaps. In both cases, the shelf life until sale is increased by five to seven days.

Of course, the Innoway-Bio-Wash is applicable for virtually all varieties of fruit and vegetables. Yet carrots, for example, are much more sensitive than potatoes, because their protective skin is brushed off during production. The dosage and composition of the bio-disinfectant can however be adjusted accordingly.
