Press release from: ROX (UK) LTD

/ PR Agency: ROX (UK) LTD
Glasgow, United Kingdom (22 October 2010) - Leading Scottish diamond and watch specialist, ROX is celebrating after being named 'Small/Medium Online Retailer of the Year' at the Scottish Retail Excellence Awards last night, 19 October 2010.

The Scottish Retail Excellence Awards brought together the cream of the crop from Scotland's retail industry, with ROX fending off tough competition from BlackCircle.com and Demijohn to scoop the coveted award.

The award win comes during a busy time for the dynamic Scottish brand as it celebrates its Aberdeen store's first birthday this evening, 20 October 2010. ROX is also gearing up for the grand opening of its Glasgow Argyll Arcade boutique next month following a £1m expansion which will see it quadruple in size and introduce an exclusive 'Thrill Room' for customers.

In 2009 ROX scooped 'Independent Retailer of the Year' at the prestigious Scottish Retail Excellence Awards and co-owner of ROX, Kyron Keogh commented that winning 'Small/Medium Online Retailer of the Year 2010' was "icing on the cake."

He added: "Being recognised by the industry for the second year running is a real honour and we are absolutely thrilled. Online retail is extremely important to our business and we have heavily invested to ensure that our customers experience the same first class service online as they do in-store.

"Business is exceptionally busy at the moment and we have a lot of exciting plans in the pipeline for the year ahead. We have double reason to celebrate now with our win at the Scottish Retail Excellence Awards and our Aberdeen store's first birthday tonight."

ROX's online side of the business now accounts for 15% of overall annual turnover - an impressive figure in an industry that traditionally relies on in-store purchases. Having increased its turnover for year ending April 2010 to £7.5m, up by £2.7m on the previous year, ROX is in a phase of rapid expansion and is gearing up for what it believes will be its strongest Christmas to date.

On a monthly basis the ROX website receives 74,000 visits and 11 million page impressions. Online sales are up by 38% in 2010, reinforcing the importance, and success of the brand's multi-channel retail model. To this end, ROX invested over £50,000 earlier this year to revamp the website to improve functionality and ease of navigation.

The brand has also branched out into social media by launching Facebook and Twitter channels where customers can keep up to date with the latest news, offers and product launches. ROX also has a blog at www.rox.co.uk/blog where customers can get all the behind the scenes gossip from the brand.

The Scottish Retail Excellence Awards aims to recognise exceptional achievement in the Scottish retail industry, bringing together the most influential figures from the industry to celebrate those individuals and organisations who have shown dynamic and innovative approaches to the modern retailing in Scotland, and who standout from the crowd.

ROX was founded in 2002 by 38 year old entrepreneurs Kyron Keogh and his business partner Grant Mitchell. Kyron's inspiration for ROX came after a visit to an upmarket jeweller in London - he was so unimpressed by the cold atmosphere and the lack of customer service that he decided to open his own jewellery store. Since then ROX has become one of Scotland's most exciting jewellers with exceptional customer service and daring designs at the heart of the company.

ROX has four stores across Scotland in the Argyll Arcade, Silverburn, Braehead in Glasgow, Union Square in Aberdeen in addition to its online store at www.rox.co.uk

In addition to stocking a glittering range of diamonds, ROX also carries that latest styles from top designer brands including Links of London, Thomas Sabo, Stephen Webster, Shaun Leane, Ebel, Techno Marine, Monica Vinader, Emporio Armani, Hugo Boss, Gc , TW Steel and Juicy Couture.
