Press release from: Roy Gray Entertainment
PR Agency: Public Relations, Kathy Hanson
(openPR) - Popular Weekend Radio Personality Roy Gray Gave The World The Scoop On 'The Gospel Keynotes' Larry McCowan And McCowan's Controversial Decision To Work With Lead Singer Teddy Cross, Instead Of 'Lil Willie
"There is a lot of news going on all across the world, but for fans of world-renowned Gospel singing group 'The Keynotes' one of the biggest stories concerns The Larry McCowan-Teddy Cross reunion and plans to record a new album under the name 'Teddy Cross and The Gospel Keynotes," announced Popular Weekend Radio Personality Roy Gray.
"We wanted to to keep the Keynotes sound, with the sound of (the late, great) Willie Neal Johnson," said McCowan, "So we tried the 'Willie' sound...to see if it would work, and it worked ok...You remember 'The Soul Stirrers' had a guy that sounded like Sam Cooke....
"And (Lil) Willie is kind of young," McCowan continued, emphasizing, "Sometimes these guys start to think they are that person...The Late Willie Johnson was a people person--everybody loved Willie and Willie loved everybody...The first person you saw (at a Keynotes concert) would be Willie and the last person you'd see was Willie Neal Johnson.
"But these guys (Lil Willie and others) would be invisible, you couldn't see them until they were gettin' ready to hit the stage...and people were looking for them...Whenever we left the stage, I couldn't stand to see the group not mingle with the older people, you know, the people that bought all our records, (including) the younger people.
"...The teaching I receive at my church home is that you're supposed to give God all the glory, you don't do it yourself. I tried (working with Lil' Willie and the others) for five years," McCowan reasoned.
Keep listening for details on this historic musical split.
Gray also took the time to thank "Booking Agent Extraordinaire" Gail Timmons, who booked Cross and McCowan on the show to break this story worldwide.
Singer James Robertson,
who was booked on the famed show by Mother Jewel and is making some inspirational noise with the cut "Miracles," also appeared on the show.
"I'm just a man who believes in (modern day) miracles, and I'm stepping out on faith," Robertson said.
Other great guests also appeared.
Gray, who is also an independent voice-over artist, hosts the popular "Simply Gospel" music program, which airs live on theICN.Com (The International Christian Network) every Saturday Night at 6.
Gray is always looking for your help tracking down the following types of stories and more:

4. A profile of a person who fixes up old furniture/houses for new immigrants
5. New business ventures in places like rural Mexico.
