Thompson & Knight Assists Cardinal Midstream in $268 Million Acquisition of Woodford Shale Assets

(openPR) - Dallas – The global law firm of Thompson & Knight LLP has assisted Cardinal Midstream, LLC (“Cardinal”) in the acquisition of midstream assets located in the Woodford Shale area of the Arkoma Basin in Oklahoma from Antero Resources (“Antero”) for approximately $268 million.
Under the terms of the agreement, Cardinal will acquire 60% of Antero’s membership interest in Centrahoma Processing LLC, a joint venture with MarkWest Energy Partners, L.P. that operates two cryogenic processing plants in the Arkoma Basin. Additionally, Cardinal will acquire Antero’s Northern Front and East Rockpile gathering systems in the Woodford Shale play as well as its amine treating plant for CO2 removal located in the East Rockpile area.
Arthur J. Wright led the Thompson & Knight team of attorneys working on the transaction, which included Partners Wesley P. Williams and R. David Wheat as well as Associates Jennifer M. Avery, Brandon L. Bloom, Melissa Deal, and Carolyn S. Mulvey.
Cardinal is a privately held natural gas midstream company focused on natural gas gathering, transportation, processing, and treating services. The Dallas-based company was founded in September 2008 through a partnership with EnCap Investments, L.P. and Flatrock Energy Advisors, LLC.
