Geared towards travelers and individuals who are in the process of relocating, the site offers key demographic, economic, and social indicators based on the most recent U.S. decennial census for ZIP codes within the 50 states and District of Columbia.

While such data is common to many Web sites serving similar audiences, ZIPskinny.com also stack-ranks the target ZIP with up to nine neighboring ZIP codes. This gives the user a frame of reference for better understanding the data's relevance.

The stack-ranking allows easy "at-a-glance" comparisons of factors such as median income, high school and college graduation rates, unemployment, and poverty rates for several ZIP codes within an area.

The site is not intended as an in-depth demographic analysis, and ZIP codes are not uniform statistical survey areas. But for newcomers to an area, the service provides an accessible "first glance" at an area's economic and social indicators.
