EXASolution 3.2 – New Version of the high-performance database
Press release from: EXASOL AG

(openPR) - Bulk loader now many times faster and GROUP BY queries improved to increase performance
Nuremberg, September 20th, 2010 – EXASOL, a leading provider of a database management system (DBMS) for precise data analytics, will release the new Version 3.2 of its high-performance database management system (DMBS) EXASolution today, including a series of innovative improvements. Customers will now benefit from even better performance and simplified integration options.
“This version represents a continuation of the work that began with Version 3.1: Version 3.2 introduces additional features that facilitate integration of EXASolution into the existing IT landscape, while also simplifying migration from other DMBSs to EXASolution. We’ve also focused on further optimising frequently used statements,” says Steffen Weissbarth, CEO of EXASOL AG.
The ‘Analytical Functions’ area, for example, has been expanded with the addition of the new RATIO_TO_REPORT function, and existing functions such as AVG, COUNT and MAX now accept the DISTINCT option. Customers can now use analytical functions in expressions. A new INTERVAL data type allows users to store and process intervals in the database.
“Because GROUP BY statements are used very frequently, we have sped up the processing of these queries significantly, while at the same time reducing the amount of memory required for calculations,” explains Weissbarth.
Data imports from CSV sources are also optimised in Version 3.2 and are now twice as fast. Data from multiple CSV sources can be imported simultaneously, allowing for much faster processing speeds. And thanks to the new REJECTION option, users can now ignore corrupt data records during the import process.
