Press release from: Gordon's Fine Wines & Liquors

/ PR Agency: Image Unlimited Communications

WHAT: When you think ‘sommelier,’ sophistication, class and superiority might come to mind. Well, think again. This fall Gordon’s Fine Wines & Liquors is smashing the stereotype behind the wine stewards and putting them into the ring during their ongoing wine tasting and dinner series, SomSmack.

On the third Thursday of every month, two sommeliers from some of Boston’s best restaurants will step out of their comfort zone and into Gordon’s Fine Wine and Culinary Center to battle their way through a four-course wine pairing. Unbeknownst to the menu, each sommelier will have exactly four minutes to find a wine that pairs with a surprise dish. This special “fight night” is action-packed as the two sommeliers wrestle their way through 4 courses and 8 wines (2 wines with each course) and into your taste buds. At the end of the evening you will be the judge of who is the master of food & wine pairing.

This fall Gordon’s has its strongest competitors yet. On Thursday, September 16th, 2010 Gordon’s Fine Wines & Liquors’ will lay the summer to rest fall with the first ever SomSmack rematch in history! SomSmack, will come to a dramatic end as two of the summer’s favorite sommeliers go head to head in the ultimate smack down. At 6:30PM defending champion and heavyweight, Todd Lipman of Bin 26 will take on Jen Fields of Toro as she tries to make a comeback and successfully close the slim, two point margin between them.

It doesn’t stop there. The winner of the September 16th SomSmack will go on to compete against newcomer Cecilia Rait, Co-Proprietor and Sommelier of the Beacon Hill Hotel & Bistro. Cecilia will step into Gordon’s Fine Wines & Liquors Culinary Center on October 21st, 2010 to take on the seasoned veteran and winner of September’s SomSmack. But, who will it be: defending champion, Todd Lipman, or potential comeback kid, Jen Field? You be the judge!

WHEN: 3rd Thursday of every month from 6:30-8:30PM.

Thursday, September 16th, 2010 featuring Todd Lipman of Bin 26 and Jen Fields of Toro
