American Megatrends Announces Aptio®4.x Support for the Intel® Atom™ Processor E6xx Series
Press release from: American Megatrends Inc.
INTEL DEVELOPER FORUM, SAN FRANCISCO, CALIFORNIA - American Megatrends Inc. (AMI) is pleased to announce that its Aptio®4.x UEFI BIOS firmware supports the new Intel® Atom processor E6xxx series announced today by Intel.
These new Intel® Atom™ processors are ideal for a wide range of embedded designs, including industrial and home automation, vending and point-of-sale, media, entertainment and automotive applications. In designing the Intel® Atom™ processor E6xx series, Intel has maintained a core focus on the platform’s flexibility, reduced bill of materials (BOM) and high performance density, to offer a compelling solution that boasts low power consumption, a compact layout for small form factor designs and improved integrated graphics performance.
S. Shankar, President and CEO of American Megatrends, commented that “as a long-standing member of the Intel® Embedded Alliance, we are proud to announce our continued support for the expanded Intel® Atom™ platforms. The growth of the Intel® Atom™ processor series lineup enables even greater adoption of UEFI BIOS firmware solutions, and our Aptio is at the forefront. AMI remains committed to ensuring that our Aptio UEFI firmware offerings satisfy the most rigorous demands of the marketplace.”
Aptio is built around Visual eBIOS (VeB), the innovative development environment designed specifically for BIOS porting. VeB continues to simplify BIOS development worldwide by removing barriers normally associated with BIOS development in the command line environment. Aptio builds on that experience, providing next-generation BIOS firmware based on Unified EFI (UEFI).
“The new Intel® Atom™ processor E6xx series offers versatility in embedded design to enable quick development of a wide range of solutions" said Jonathan Luse, director of marketing for the Intel Low Power Embedded Products Division. "Embedded customers can speed delivery of new solutions with the combination of the new Intel® Atom™ processors with AMI Aptio® 4.x solutions for full OS compatibility and UEFI pre-boot functionality."
Aptio® 4.x evaluation BIOS for Intel Customer Reference Boards featuring the Intel® Atom™ processor E6xx series are available now. Interested parties are encouraged to contact AMI’s Software Sales Department for details at 1-800-U-BUY-AMI.
