Thompson & Knight Assists Apache Corporation in $3.95 Billion Financing

(openPR) - The global law firm of Thompson & Knight LLP has assisted Apache Corporation (“Apache”) in connection with arrangements for $3.95 billion in financing, including the expansion of its commercial paper program to a $2.95 billion aggregate principal amount as well as a $1 billion, 364-day revolving credit facility.
The capital raised may be used to fund Apache’s recently announced acquisition of all of BP’s oil and gas operations, acreage, and infrastructure in the Permian Basin and Egypt’s Western Desert as well as substantially all of BP’s upstream natural gas business in western Alberta and British Columbia in Canada.
Robert J. Viguet Jr., a Partner in the Firm’s Corporate and Securities Practice Group, led the Thompson & Knight team of attorneys working on these transactions, which included Marlen D. Whitley and Barry Davis of the Firm’s Houston office and Robert H. Saunders of the Firm’s New York office.
