5th Open Source Monitoring Conference (OSMC) 6 – 7 October

Nuremberg, 31 August 2010 – After a successful Call for Papers, the program of the 5th Open Source Monitoring Conference 2010 was announced today.

The program covers a diverse array of open source technologies and best practices to do with monitoring. It features renowned open source figures the likes of Michael Medin (NSClient Founder), Wolfgang Barth (Author of the Nagios Book) and Dr. Johannes Mainusch (Vice President of Operations, XING). Respectively, they will update attendees on NSClient++ developments, Merlin’s ability to substitute NDOUtils and offer lessons to learn from monitoring a high traffic networking platform with over 9 million users.

In addition, Sven Velt, Team Icinga, Dr. Hendrik Schöttle, Jörg Möllenkamp and many others will bring the latest open source monitoring ideas to the fore. Beside the presentations, hands-on workshops will allow attendees to put theory into practice. Sven Velt will lead a Nagios workshop for newcomers and Team Icinga will offer insight into Icinga development.

“Every year, attendees have the chance to tap into a pool of minds at the forefront of open source monitoring. Through the presentations and lively discussions that ensue, everyone leaves with new ideas and best practices to apply to their day to day work”, noted Julian Hein, Managing Director of the event organizer, NETWAYS GmbH.

Details on the presentations and agenda are available on the conference website. Through a partnership with Linux Magazine, conference attendees will be able to view all speeches online during and after the event. In this way, Linux Magazine’s Live Streaming services will enable attendees to enjoy all presentations even when they are scheduled in parallel. In addition, the renowned high quality server systems provider Thomas Krenn AG will support the conference with a showcase of the latest server technologies.

The Open Source Monitoring Conference is organized by NETWAYS GmbH, the leading open source service provider for hosting and monitoring based in Nuremberg. In its 5th year running, the conference has grown in size with tickets selling out each time. This reflects a trend towards open source software, as seen in its growing adoption by many prominent companies and data centers which have recognized the cost efficiencies that open source brings.

All with an interest in open source monitoring are welcome to join the OSMC. Attendees have a choice of three conference packages (with or without accommodation) ranging between €850 and €1,029. Online registration at: http://www.netways.de/en/osmc/y2010/registration/
