Adventure PHP Framework (APF) 1.12 released
Press release from: APF
PR Agency: adventure-php-framework.org - the open source framework project
The free Adventure PHP Framework in version 1.12 has been released. The framework is designed to assist the developer with the implementation of object oriented and reusable PHP based web applications and encourages the use of design patterns.
Release 1.12 is focused on the improvement of the programming interface (API). Generically named methods were replaced by self-explaining equivalents, code parts for PHP 4 compatibility were removed, and exceptions were introduced to replace trigger_error() calls. These changes do not only increase the readability of the API but also gain cooperation with IDEs (type hinting, intelli sense).
Form support was added an intelligent upload field and flexible CSS formatting for validation errors. To enable the developer to present validator-specific error messages the special validator concept is introduced. Now with the APF extension "clientvalidator" contributed by Ralf Schubert forms can also be validated on client side - and without one single line of java script.
The user management module introduced with 1.7 now features a component to manage visibility definitions for any kind of aplication. So, the module is applicable as a full, independent component for the administration of users and groups as well as functional authorisations using roles.
Now the O/R-Mapper GORM popular within the APF community can handle additional data types for index columns to store bigger amounts of data. Further, the objects configuration offers the possibility to define additional indices on attributes of an object. Therewith, the performance of queries with the GenericCriterionObject can be increased and additional indexes can be managed comfortably with the automated setup and update tool.
The Adventure PHP Framework is licensed under the LGPLv3 and can be downloaded from the APF web site. A complete change log can be found under adventure-php-framework.org/Page/126-Revision-history/rel....
The Adventure PHP Framework (APF) understands itself as a utility to implement object oriented and generic PHP web applications. It supports the developer in creating programs in compliance with approved software design patterns. Its code base already has answers to many day-to-day problems. The framework cannot be described as an application that only has to be configured but rather as a technical basis and guide for designing software. Furthermore it introduced many concepts and efficiency tools already well known in the JAVA community.
