RAANDESK EXHIBITS PHOTOGRAPHY BY LAURA SALIERNO
Press release from: RAANDESK Gallery of Art
PR Agency: Stark Communications
(openPR) - New York, NY- The RAANDESK GALLERY OF ART (www.raandeskgallery.com) is hosting an exhibition of the works of emerging young photographer Laura Salierno. The exhibition will include three distinct bodies of work by Salierno. The first consists of the images from her hauntingly biographical series that launched her photography career in New York. The second body of work incorporated is from Salierno’s series of comparison photographs of New Orleans juxtaposing paired images of Mardi Gras scenes with images of the after effects of Katrina. Finally, this exhibition will debut Salierno’s new series, The Plaza, which displays the dingy but evocative remnants of the abandoned hotel rooms of New York's legendary Plaza Hotel. Working primarily in color, her work encompasses all forms of photography from the documentary to the created, using the medium to carve the world to fit her vision of it and herself.
WHEN:
Opening Reception: Tuesday, January 16, 2007 from 6:00-9:00 P.M.
Exhibition Dates: January 16-March 10, 2007
WHERE:
Punch & Judy (RAANDESK Gallery Partner), 26 Clinton Street, New York, NY
Cross Streets: Between Stanton and E. Houston
Nearest Subway Lines: F and V at Delancey Street
In the words of the artist regarding her biographical series: "…my work has developed into a series of figurative vignettes… I have come to view (my photographs) as removed self-portraits marked with a personal respect for the beauty found in the act of waiting… My hope is that my work can reflect a moment that is vehemently personal yet universal and ubiquitous."
Laura Salierno received her BFA in photography at University of Connecticut in 2003, after which she fled to New York. Since then, her work has graced the cover of the Long River Review, and she has been in various group exhibitions in New York, California, and Connecticut. Laura currently resides in Brooklyn, NY.

Comments about openPR
Your portal is fast, simple, and easy to use. Others may have more functions but they also demand more editing time, you have to preformat the text in order to achieve a good result etc.
I think openPR is really fantastic!
