Press release from: CAD Schroer GmbH
(openPR) - Cambridge, UK and Pittsford, NY – 29 July 2010: Version 5 of CAD Schroer’s 3D plant engineering suite, MPDS4, speeds up plant and factory layout projects with the latest in intelligent, dynamic 3D editing; automatic routing; and enhanced data management, exchange and visualisation options.

The database-driven, multi-user 3D plant design software offers an integrated 2D/3D design environment for project engineering efficiency. Version 5 of MPDS4 sees enhanced usability, administration and design productivity. The latest user interface introduces new colours, icons and optimised dialogs for clarity and efficiency.

New Plant Project Data Manager
“Customers will love the MPDS4 Project Data Manager, a new front-end tool that presents the most important plant project data, offering different administration, viewing, editing and reporting options based on a user’s role, including status reports for management,” explains Product Line Manager Mark Simpson. “Designers benefit from many new, intelligent 3D routing and editing tools that further speed up design changes. The P&ID module has also been significantly overhauled.”
Enhanced Dynamic 3D Editing
MPDS4 now provides enhanced dynamic drag and drop editing of routed components, such as pipes, ducts and cables. Version 5.0 makes it even easier to intelligently adjust the position of individual components, such as tanks or machinery, whereby connections with other components are automatically adjusted to the new position.
New Automatic Routing Tool
A new user-configurable routing tool for all the routing disciplines, such as piping, ducting and cabling, automatically calculates all possible paths, allowing users to choose the preferred route before automatically creating the component. All affected components in a larger assembly are automatically re-routed.
Intelligent P&IDs: www.cad-schroer.com/Software/MPDS4/PID/r/137
On top of many functional enhancements, the P&ID module introduces new tools for filtering, grouping, selecting, placing and dynamically moving symbols. Tight integration with MPDS4 add-on modules means that P&ID diagrams can form the basis of 3D designs, with automatic cross-checks against the 3D world.
