(openPR) - mirabyte has announced the first details about FrontFace, its brand new product for Windows enabled tablet PCs, netbooks and laptop computers. While the iPad and tablet PCs with Android OS are becoming more and more common due to the easy interaction they offer the user, Windows-based devices, which are generally more powerful, are not quite up to speed with their competitors yet. This is usually because Windows lacks an easy and intuitive user interface that also works well on touch screen devices and computers with smaller screens such as netbooks. mirabyte therefore now introduces FrontFace to prove that using Windows on tablet PCs and netbooks can greatly improve the user experience!

Windows is the most established operating system for desktop computers, but new device types such as touch screen computers or ultra mobile netbooks with a different focus on use cases and applications challenge Microsoft’s operating system. Currently iOS and Android are popular in the area of mobile, Internet enabled devices.

Even though Windows 7 does support touch screen devices, poking around the tiny start menu with a finger is not quite what one would call a "user experience". The Windows platform is far more powerful and offers more diversity when it comes to applications and peripheral hardware. mirabyte has therefore introduced its latest innovation which is called FrontFace: Basically it is a "front face" for the Windows operating system (Windows XP, Vista and 7) that makes typical tasks like browsing the Web, using Web applications, checking emails, using Twitter or social networks, etc. far more easier. In addition locally installed applications are well supported, too. FrontFace offers a start page on which users can place their individual widgets and an App Starter for launching all kinds of applications. Another innovative feature of FrontFace is called "Notification Center"; this hub aggregates notifications from applications on the local computer and from various sources on the Web automatically. Notifications are presented to the user in different ways depending on their importance, relevance and personal preferences. FrontFace actively helps the user to cope with the immanent challenge of information overflow.

FrontFace is also set to be extended further with exclusive new applications ("apps") that offer easy access to multimedia files (videos, music, etc.). Additionally, an app for viewing and organizing digital photos will be available as well.
