A Step-by-Step Visual Guide for Orthopedic Surgeons Facilitates Diagnosis and Treatment Selection
Press release from: Thieme Publishers
(openPR) - New York/Stuttgart – "MRI for Orthopaedic Surgeons" demonstrates how to systematically evaluate and interpret magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) studies of the musculoskeletal system. The collaboration between orthopedic surgeons and radiologists to produce this book, published by Thieme, emulates the optimal relationship between these subspecialties in clinical practice. Author Dr. Khanna sites the lack of imaging resources in this field as having been an impetus for writing and compiling the material for this graphically-driven textbook.
"My desire to create this book stems from my interest and background in musculoskeletal imaging and from my recognition of the fact that the ability to accurately evaluate MR imaging studies is critical to the practice of orthopedic surgery," explains author A. Jay Khanna, MD.
In this recently published book, medical professionals are vividly guided, step-by-step, through, for example, how to evaluate images and how to correlate imaging findings with patient history and clinical presentation. Additional chapters cover advanced techniques such as correlation with other imaging modalities as well as safety issues. Special features include an algorithm for systematic review that aids readers in avoiding errors in image interpretation.
"MRI for Orthopaedic Surgeons" offers readers clinical insights from leading surgeons and radiologists. This image-driven text includes more than 700 MRIs and 130 select drawings that illustrate and teach key concepts related to normal anatomy and pathologic conditions.
"This book was envisioned to be a practical aid to develop and/or refine the skills needed to effectively and systematically evaluate MR imaging studies of the musculoskeletal system," says Dr. Khanna.
