Press release from: Ex Libris

Ex Libris Primo provides a one-stop search interface for member institutions and facilitates access to the central catalog of the Network

Hamburg, Germany—13 July 2010. Ex Libris® Group is pleased to announce that the Austrian Library Network has gone live with the Primo® discovery and delivery solution. Primo provides a unified interface to the Network’s central catalog and is now in use at the University of Innsbruck library and the University of Vienna library. Over the coming months, the Austrian National Library, the University of Graz, the Vienna University of Economics and Business, the University of Applied Arts Vienna, and the University of Veterinary Medicine Vienna will join the consortium.

“We are delighted to increase the visibility of our physical holdings and electronic resources to our users and to have successfully completed this wide-reaching project ahead of schedule,” commented Wolfgang Hamedinger, managing director of Austrian Library Network and Services Ltd. (Österreichische Bibliothekenverbund und Service GmbH, or OBVSG).

“With its shared Primo platform, the Austrian Library Network has reached a new milestone in the collaboration between members. Our relationship with Ex Libris has been strong and effective throughout the project—particularly with respect to the development of a number of additional functions. Without this cooperation, a project on this scale would have been unthinkable,” Mr. Hamedinger added.

Ullrich Jüngling, vice president of sales at Ex Libris Germany, commented: “In its adoption of Primo as a unified gateway to the rich resources of the Network and its members, OBVSG has expanded and improved the service it delivers to member libraries, and takes a leading role among European library consortia. The ongoing productive collaboration between the Austrian Library Network and Ex Libris has provided us with an opportunity to further enhance the consortial functionality of Primo.”
