PSI Awarded Contract by Cologne-Bonn Airport and Lufthansa
Press release from: PSI AG
(openPR) - Berlin, 16 June 2010 – PSI subsidiary PSI Logistics GmbH has been awarded by the Flughafen Köln/Bonn GmbH and Lufthansa AG with the delivery of the standard product PSIairport/BRS for the control and documentation of the luggage handling.
Along with Berlin-Tegel, Hamburg and Nuremberg, the Cologne-Bonn Airport is now also using PSI’s Baggage Reconciliation System. The airport will continue to use the existing infrastructure and the data from the luggage conveyor and sorting system so that in a second, future step existing mobile end devices can also be applied. The data transferred to Lufthansa will allow for a continuous and up-to-date tracking of individual pieces of luggage for every flight at the Cologne-Bonn Airport. Lufthansa will then be invoiced by PSI on the basis of the number of units of luggage. In this manner, the previous investment decision for the airline and the airport becomes moot and allows for a flexible adjustment of costs should the passenger count decrease.
The Deutsche Lufthansa AG is one of the world’s leading airlines and employs more than 100,000 persons worldwide.
The Cologne-Bonn Airport, with about 12,500 persons employed in the immediate environment of the airport and more than 10 million passengers and about 590,000 tons of freight, is one of the largest civilian airports in Germany.
PSI AG develops and integrates complete solutions, on the basis of its own software products, for the management of energy networks (electricity, gas, oil, heat, water), cross-company production management (metals, automotive, mechanical and plant engineering, mining, logistics) and infrastructure management for telecommunications, transport and safety. PSI was founded in 1969 and employs 1,400 persons in the group. www.psi.de, www.psilogistics.com
