Following its success in being awarded the Queen’s Award for Enterprise: International Trade and the UKTI sponsored Exporter of the Year, Trilogy is in a prime position to help the UK’s economic recovery through strong export growth.
Sir George who has just been returned to his seat with an increased majority was invited to meet with Trilogy as part of the Defence Industries Council’s ‘Defence Matters’ campaign which is focussed on giving ministers a better appreciation of how important this dynamic, high technology sector is to the UK economy as a whole.
Commenting on the visit, Mike Knight, Trilogy CEO said: “The business sector we operate in invests £3.3 billion into Research and Development and provides over 300,000 high-value engineering and manufacturing jobs in the UK and as such we value the opportunity to promote the requirements of our sector and the needs of our business to the new Government”.
Trilogy itself is already involved in several key defence contracts at home and abroad and exports 80% of its turnover each year to demanding customers such as the US Air Force. Within the first few months of 2010, Trilogy’s Mercury ES, a class leading COTS product has been selected as a core component of another major national C4ISR system in South East Asia.
Speaking after the visit, Sir George said: "It was a real pleasure to go round Trilogy, and to hear of the foreign exchange they are earning by exporting the bulk of their output. It was also good to hear that here, in Andover, is a company that is supplying world beating technology and winning valuable contracts".
Mercury ES, provides defence and intelligence functions with a high-capacity, distributed communications capability that facilitates multi-level and cross domain security. Unprecedented in terms of quality, sophistication and speed Mercury ES makes information sharing and decision making across organisations easier than ever.
Mercury ES operates on LANs/WANs over terrestrial or satellite-based IP networks. Users can participate in multiple communications simultaneously - including direct, conference and monitor-only. In addition, radios, telephones and other technologies can be linked to the system to provide users with a unified communications control panel.
