(openPR) - Salt Lake City, UT, June 02, 2010 – In a move to provide continued service to its graduates, Independence University will soon launch an alumni association.

Seeking active involvement of its students in the formation of the alumni association, the university is soliciting feedback on the students’ expectations from such an organization. For this purpose, Independence University has introduced a new “Alumni” section on the Student/Faculty page of their website.

The Alumni section includes a small survey that students are invited to take to help the university in the planning process. The university has also been distributing a survey to its former students asking for feedback.

The decision to launch an alumni association stemmed from the desire of graduating students to develop a network with other graduates for continued support and learning.

Through its alumni association, Independence University aims to offer its students a platform to mentor, network, and share personal and professional experiences with friends and colleagues.

According to the responses received so far to the survey, 68% students felt that the alumni association should offer professional development courses, while 60% wanted social and professional networking opportunities with others who pursued the same program or share the same profession.

The other top request of the students include access to career services, discounts on continuing education courses, and tuition discounts for another degree at the university.

Independence University will give due consideration to these and other such requirements of the students when forming the alumni association. IU is hoping to have the association up and running later this spring and is encouraging all students – present and former – to send feedback.

Once launched, students will have a stage to mingle with others who share the same pedigree of education that is unique, focused, and far-reaching.
