Relaunched Thieme E-Book Library Enhances the User Experience

Press release from: Thieme Publishers
(openPR) - New York/Stuttgart – Thieme today announced the relaunch of the Thieme E-Book Library, one of the leading online destinations for learning, review and research in medicine and the life sciences. This continuously expanding resource contains books on anatomy, the clinical sciences, radiology and the basic sciences. This updated version of the Thieme E-Book Library contains additional titles, as well as many new features.

"Due to the increasing popularity and use of Thieme E-Books, we felt now was definitely the best time to upgrade our web-based platform. The Thieme E-Book Library has been designed not only to follow Thieme's new branding, but also to allow for ease of expansion. In addition to providing users with a faster interface, we have given them the ability to set up profiles, personalize accounts and most importantly, to download books for offline viewing," says Bernd Hess, Vice President, Thieme Institutional Sales.

“Having a flash-based user interface optimizes the viewing experience, while the redesigned system offers readers greater control. Some of the more compelling new features allow subscribers to bookmark pages, add personal notes and download any book directly to their desktops with the assistance of proprietary offline reader software available for both Windows and Macintosh environments, that is built on the freely available Adobe AIR platform,” says J. Kirby Robinson, Manager, Electronic Product Development, Thieme.

The Thieme E-Book Library provides students, researchers and clinicians with access to a vast collection of material such as Thieme's renowned Color Atlases and Flexibook series. With the addition of five titles such as “Neuro-Ophthalmology Illustrated” and “The Retina in Systemic Disease,” as well as ongoing updates of existing titles with the latest editions. There are now a total of 48 books in the online library. Future additions to the collection, as well as new topic-based collections are currently under development.

Both existing and new electronic assets have been utilized in order to customize content for publication on the website. The rebranded e-book portal, available at ebooks.thieme.com, is hosted on a platform developed by Impelsys, Inc. (impelsys.com), a leader in providing electronic content delivery platforms, content conversion services, electronic content warehousing, and online tools for publishers.
