(openPR) - Triangle Office of Nagoya University Offers Cost-Competitive Degree Programs Taught in English

Seeks Out Top Young Minds at Triangle Animazement Convention

RTP, N.C. (May 25, 2010)—Nagoya University, home to four Nobel Prize-winning professors in physics and chemistry (www.nagoya-u.ac.jp/en/), is reaching out to Triangle-area high school students and undergraduates interested in the science and technology fields through participation in Animazement 13, Raleigh, North Carolina's premier anime convention (www.animazement.org).

Foreign-student tuition at Japan’s Nagoya University is approximately $5,800 per year and monthly housing and living expenses are less than $1,000 per month. In comparison, the average tuition cost in the U.S. for the 2009-2010 school year was $7,020 for in-state tuition. Out-of-state tuition to public colleges and universities was $18,545 and 26,273 for private colleges and universities, according to The College Board.

“Animazement offers an excellent opportunity to meet potential students,” says Tomohisha Koyama, professor and executive director of Technology Partnership of Nagoya University, Inc. “Young people interested in Anime have an interest in Japanese culture and tend to be very forward thinking with passions in science, technology and creativity.”

Triangle-based executives with the Technology Partnership of Nagoya University, Inc. will spend May 28 – 30 talking with Animazement convention goers about the English-taught degree programs available at the Japanese university. Starting in 2011, NU is offering undergraduate English-taught curriculums in automotive engineering, biological science, chemistry, fundamental and applied physics, as well as social sciences including law and business administration. Graduate students can enroll in English-taught physics, mathematics, biology, bioagriculture and civil engineering, as well as law, political science, economics and business administration. NU also offers a special doctoral program in the science of the atmosphere and the hydrosphere.

Students interested in the International Program at NU need to be aware that in addition to achieving a high school diploma with a GPA of 3.0 or higher, undergraduates will have needed to complete secondary schooling or a college-prep curriculum comparable in standard and content to high schools in Japan. However, NU has international partnerships with more than 259 colleges and universities to accommodate recognition of course credit toward degree requirements.
