(openPR) - Marlton, NJ-- Design Force Inc. proudly announces that the firm’s president, Ted Mininni, was one of six package design experts interviewed by the editor of Beverage World for a feature article in the publication’s November issue. The article: “The Year in Beverage Packaging”, was written as both a beverage packaging review, and an analysis of current and future trends.
Beverage World Publications Group covers every aspect of the $700 billion dollar global beverage business, with U.S. and global editions. Its global subscription base numbers 48,000 readers. Beverage World states that “the magazine features in-depth editorial features, essential news and exclusive research on the issues, trends, people and companies shaping the future of the beverage market”. Beverage World, in conjunction with the Beverage Marketing Corporation also hosts the Beverage Forum, the only global all-beverage executive conference, in the spring.
In the article, the editor of Beverage World interviewed Mr. Mininni for his insights into packaging trends and innovations. Mr. Mininni: “I expect there will be more innovative structural packaging coming our way. Structural packaging can be as powerful a brand differentiator as the products they contain and become an instantaneous icon.” He went on to say that PET structural packaging continues to evolve, and that innovative new concepts in plastic will continue to hit the marketplace, even in categories such as wine and spirits.
Mr. Mininni’s assessment of strong trends in beverage packaging also include:
Thus, the important trends that I think will continue to grow:
• Grab and go, that is, portability for today’s active people and their active lifestyles.
• One-handed gripability, or more ergonomically designed.
• Single serve sizes sold in singles and multi packs. Again: perfect for on-the-go lifestyles, and the large number of 1-2 person households.
• Functionality and convenience. Easy to use (read: pour or dispense) and to store.
• Durable containers that retain product freshness and integrity even better than in the past, that is, longer shelf life without flavor and nutrient components breaking down.
• Space-saving packaging for singles and couples who live in apartments, smaller homes and condos.
• New category growth in energy and sports-related beverages. Juice category growth in single serve sizes and multi packs.
• More PET plastics rather than glass in structural designs; more shapes for aluminum bottles and cans.
