Cray CX1 and CX1000 systems now available with Bright Cluster Manager

Many Cray resellers offer Bright Cluster Manager as their preferred cluster management solution

Cray and Bright Computing to host webinar on Wednesday May 19th (details below)

San Jose, California — Bright Computing, specialist in cluster management software and services for high-performance computing (HPC), is pleased to announce that the Cray CX1 and Cray CX1000 systems are now available with Bright Cluster Manager™, its innovative cluster management software product. The systems can be purchased as turn-key solutions — with Bright Cluster Manager pre-installed — from a rapidly growing network of Cray resellers, including Ace Computers, James River Technical, Padova Technologies, Scalable Informatics and SICORP in the USA, and ClusterVision in Europe.

Bright Cluster Manager was designed to make high-performance compute (HPC) clusters extremely easy to use. Its intuitive graphical user interface offers access to all cluster management functionality, without the need to use the Linux command line. An additional benefit for Cray CX1 and Cray CX1000 customers is Bright Cluster Manager's built-in support for GPU computing, including GPU drivers, CUDA & OpenCL libraries and GPU monitoring and management capability.

"Using Bright Cluster Manager is a completely different experience from using the open source cluster management solutions that you can download off the web. Its GUI is very intuitive to use and offers all functionality I need as an administrator on a day-to-day basis," says Erik Smeets, Systems Administrator at the Technical University of Eindhoven.

"Our vision for the Cray CX line of supercomputers has always been focused on expanding the customer base of HPC users by designing and delivering a product based on the tenets of ease-of-use computing," says Ian Miller, Senior Vice President of the Productivity Solutions Group and Marketing at Cray (NASDAQ:CRAY). "Bright Cluster Manager manages cluster computing systems in a simple and intuitive way that reinforces our goal for the Cray CX line, and we are excited to offer Bright's cluster management solution to Cray customers through our expansive network of resellers."
