ATLANTA, GEORGIA - American Megatrends (AMI), a leader in BIOS and computing innovations, has extended its experience in BIOS and UEFI to the developer community with a new blog. AMI has introduced “Ask a BIOS Guy” as a regular feature in the “New to Intel® Architecture Blog” at the Intel Embedded Design Center (EDC).

“The ‘Ask a BIOS Guy’ blog is another way for AMI to support the Intel ecosystem,” said Brian Richardson, Senior Technical Marketing Engineer at American Megatrends. “The BIOS isn’t as well known as other parts of the PC architecture, but it’s a key part of the compatibility people expect from Intel Architecture platforms. Developers migrating from non-x86 architectures need resources to simplify that transition and AMI feels this blog is one way to help the embedded community.”

Each “Ask a BIOS Guy” article draws on AMI’s vast resources and experience to answer questions regarding BIOS development and functionality. This covers a range of topics, from new technologies like UEFI to the more esoteric aspects of BIOS functionality. The “Ask a BIOS Guy” articles draw on over 25 years of AMI’s history in the computer industry, and are written from an industry perspective.
Questions for future “Ask a BIOS Guy” articles can be submitted via Twitter (@askabiosguy) or the Intel EDC website. In addition to resources like AMItv on YouTube, interaction through social media channels provides another educational resource for developers.

“A community like Intel EDC presents a great opportunity to go beyond product sales pitches and links to presentation slides,” says Richardson. “Educating embedded developers, whether they’ve been in the ecosystem for one month or ten years, makes it easier for them to pick the right tools and design the best product for their customers.”

Users and developers can always visit www.ami.com for support on AMI products, or to learn more about BIOS and UEFI solutions used in today’s leading systems.
