InfoCom says market for age verification systems in Germany has little potential to grow.
Press release from: Infocom GmbH
(openPR) - Stuttgart, Germany — According to a recent InfoCom study on age verification systems (AVS), the AVS market accounted for approx. 27 million Euro. About 60% originated from erotic websites, about 20% from video-related transactions (download, sale, VoD, IPTV), 15% from gaming (download, sale, online) and the remaining from gambling. Overall, video (more than 10% growth in average) and gaming (12% growth in average) show the highest potential for growth within the next years although the overall AVS market potential remains limited. An analyst from InfoCom stated: “In general, the potential for new AVS-providers is very limited, as the market is indeed not large enough: many specialised providers are already established in the market and many AVS potential customers develop their own systems to fulfil the legal requirements”.
The market is also strongly influenced by regulation and legal requirements, which in some cases significantly reduce the number of potential clients for such applications. In Germany, for instance, German companies have been prohibited to offer online gambling since January 2009. “In the past, age verification systems have been used to make online gambling inaccessible for children and teenagers “ InfoCom’s analyst continued, “However, due to the impossibility to control the Internet completely, underage people could not be fully prevented from accessing certain content. This regulation fully preventing German companies from offering online gambling changed the scenario completely”.

Comments about openPR
OpenPR ist the nicest and most clearly laid out PR platform I have seen to this day. The press releases are displayed very nicely and clearly and without any unnecessary frills.
The updates are fast and the finished release looks appealing and is clearly legible.
