(openPR) - Softweb Solutions Inc. develops an online calendar application for event management which works on Silverlight 4.

Chicago, Illinois —April 17, 2010— Softweb Solutions Inc. today announced it will release Calendar Application, which works on Microsoft Silverlight 4 to provide customers a smart client application built on top of the existing desktop application developed in the Microsoft .NET Framework.

Since the existing application uses a service layer developed using Windows Communication Foundation (WCF) Service, the calendar application reuses the same service without creating any duplicate logic. Calendar application user experience has been made very appealing by using very customizable controls provided with Microsoft Silverlight, asynchronously loading content on demand and using multimedia features available in Silverlight. Users now won’t have to wait for page to refresh every time they try to shift to a different view or change details, or demand for more data. Live filters are used to enhance searching on different criteria. Microsoft ASP.NET role based security is used to authenticate users. Application uses several little animations and effects to create a rich and interactive user interface.

After the release of Silverlight 3, Softweb Solutions have started replacing a lot of Adobe Flash widgets previously hosted on different Web applications with the Silverlight Controls. Controls like navigation, advertising, file uploading, data analysis and charting, multimedia content explorer, video streaming, etc for a few months now.
