BROOKINGS, S.D. – April 13, 2010 – The Minnesota Twins hosted the Boston Red Sox in the first regular season game at the new Target Field in front of a full house of enthusiastic fans ready and eager for the 2009 American League Central Division champions to make another playoff run in their fantastic new outdoor ballpark. Daktronics (Nasdaq-DAKT) provided a unique scoring and video super system for the new ballpark, complete with one of the highest resolution (1080 lines of resolution) LED video screens in all of Major League Baseball.

The super system consists of the main high definition video board, more than 1,200 linear feet of digital ribbon boards, a dedicated pitchers display, an out-of-town game board built into the right-center field fence, and ticket window displays.

Included in the Twins’ Target Field project are Daktronics video image processing technologies and the new Show Control system. The company’s video processing system is touted by experts as the best in the industry, processing and scaling live and recorded video signal to vivid digital imagery on large displays. The Show Control system is the one of the latest developments from Daktronics, providing a power combination of control software, data integration, and playback hardware that forms a single, comprehensive production solution. Comments on the Daktronics Integrated Scoring and Video Display System at Target Field

“Our great fans will really enjoy this 1080 high definition video display and other complementary components of the system.”
Dave St. Peter Minnesota Twins President

“Having visited other new ballparks around the country, I have seen first-hand how a state-of-the-art scoreboard system enhances the fan experience. The entire system, particularly the main scoreboard, will really add to our ballpark’s ‘wow’ factor.”
Steve Cramer Minnesota Ballpark Authority Chairman

“The scoreboard is awesome, high-def and huge, and there are all kinds of boards keeping track of all kinds of stats.”
Phil Miller Fox Sports North Reporter

“Without a doubt, the main video board – stretching nearly 5,800 square feet – and the icon of the park, Minnie and Paul’s celebration board, are the first thing you notice as you scan the field. The video board has great detail with its 1080p HDTV, and marks the fourth largest screen in Major League Baseball. Pretty impressive.”
Sara Boyd WCCO Television Reporter
