Hanover – 2010-04-08. With HAFAS for Google Android™ Deutsche Bahn AG (DB) gets the travel planner DB Railnavigator going for all the Smartphones that use the new operating system by Google for mobile devices. As from now the application is available for free download in the Android Market. Android runs on mobile devices from different manufacturers such as HTC, Samsung, Sony Ericsson and Motorola.

HAFAS Mobile for Android is much more than just timetable information. Rather, it is a door-to-door information for the entire travel chain. Timetables of the complete public transport network can always be stored easily and are thus accessible even without internet connection. Additionally, actual arrival times and delay information are available online.

HAFAS takes advantage of the hardware features of the new Smartphone. These include large displays and touch functionality that both make operation particularly easy. The representation of environment maps and detailed walking directions to the start and end point can be realised with Google Maps. In addition, the user benefits from services such as floor plans for selected stations. With GPS, WLAN and radio cells the exact position of the user is determined. With the new compass feature the user is guided by the device safely and easily to the next bus stop or railway station. Just like a compass, an arrow indicates the right direction; the distance in metres is also shown.

HaCon has already developed the DB Navigator for the iPhone. The application is based on the timetable information system HAFAS. The leading European timetable information system of HaCon is already used in close to 20 countries.
