(openPR) - Checking continuity or quickly tracing multimode fibers in networks to insure proper connections is a difficult task in large fiber count systems. AFS Europe makes it quite simple with the FCT-100.
The FCT-100 is a low cost tester. This bright visible source allows technicians to check the continuity of a multimode mode system at installation or later during maintenance. It allows the user to visually inspect the end of jumpers or fiber reels to determine if there is damage to the cable or if the connector looks in good condition. The FCT-100 is the perfect trouble shooting tool for quick tracing fiber on patch panels.
It works very simple. By connecting the FCT-100 into one end of a fiber link, visible light will be injected into the fiber. If the light is visible at the opposite end, then you will know that the fiber link is continuous. If not, further test or reparation is needed. Because the light is immediately visible, the user has an instant result.
This tool has a range of 4 kilometers and has a universal connector for ST, SC and FC. This device is compact and lightweight, so between testing you can just put it back in your pocket or easily store it in a toolbox.
