(openPR) - The Wikihost.org - portal, a platform for free wiki hosting, experienced a fundamental face lift. Beside a more pleasing design also some useful extensions, completely in the indication of the Web2.0, have been implemented.
The administration and configuration of wikis is now more simply and more easily accessible.
In addition the new tag cloud offers now a modern way of categorizing contents to the users. Each page of a wiki now can be tagged with several keywords. These tags are then represented as a bunch of such keywords, whereby more frequently used tags appear in a larger writing and set off thus from the mass. This way relevant contents, which is of interest for many users, can be emphasized.
Wikihost.org meanwhile accommodates more than 3500 wikis. Most of it are operated by private users, some also by schools, universities and societies. Beside the public wikis, in which everyone can cooperate as desired, closed wikis are available, too. This allows it to use a wiki in the enterprise without having to care about server hosting.
The underlying Wiki engine is GeboGebo, another open source project of the tdb Software Service GmbH.
The tdb Software Service GmbH specialized in Web-based solutions for Internet and Intranet. The enterprise sits in the Middle Franconian Schwabach, Germany and has beside numerous medium-size enterprises also considerable companies such as AGCO, AUDI, EON, Railion or the German Telekom as customers.
