XClinical embarks on collaborative effort with BALT International
Press release from: XClinical GmbH
(openPR) - XClinical GmbH starts cooperation with French Medical Device Company BALT International
XCLINICAL GMBH, Munich, Germany – 29 March, 2010 – XClinical, a European vendor of software products for eClinical trials known for its innovative and user-friendly CDISC ODM-certified EDC software suite MARVIN, announced today that BALT International, a French Medical Device company, has decided to use XClinical’s EDC Software MARVIN.
BALT will soon start using the software solution in a two-year neurovascular trial. One hundred and sixty patients will be enrolled in the study to investigate intracranial aneurysm. Apart from randomisation, a blinded review of data will also be conducted with MARVIN during the study. Flexible roles and permissions within the system will be used to enable e.g. the anonymous review of angiographic images. Another feature of this trial shall be its integration of a validated “quality of life” questionnaire. “We are proud to sponsor the MARCO POLO trial and we wanted to have the best EDC solution to allow the trial to run smoothly,” said Nicolas Plowiecki, CEO of BALT International. “We are happy to have started our collaboration with MARVIN, it seemed like a tailor-made solution for this project.”
From the initial contact made between BALT International and XClinical, it only took a few months until the “first patient-in”. “BALT International is the second client within the past few months with such a short set-up time,” said Dr Claus Lindenau from XClinical. “This underlines the advantages of an ODM metadata-driven set-up process.”
The short set-up time was one of BALT’s main reasons to decide on the German vendor’s solution. “It is critical that the investigators have an easy, user-friendly interface to input patients’ data quickly and intuitively,” stated Linda Nicolini, Director of Market Development at BALT Extrusion. ”We found MARVIN to meet those needs.”
