Radisson LAX Will Go Dark for Earth Hour

Press release from: Radisson Los Angeles Airport Hotel

(openPR) - Happy hour at the Radisson Los Angeles Airport Hotel will look a little different on March 27th – it will be dark. In honor of Earth Hour, the Radisson LAX will turn off non-essential lighting in public spaces from 8:30 – 9:30 p.m., including Concorde Lounge and Palmira Restaurant. While the atmosphere will be dark, the mood will be light as employees and patrons alike show their support for Earth Hour 2010.

“Earth Hour gives us a chance to reinforce our commitment to reducing our greenhouse gas emissions, and allows us to bring attention to the concern for climate change,” says Cindy Boulton, Area Managing Director. “While we recognize that turning off the lights for one hour won’t heal the world, we are pleased that we can join individuals, organizations, governments, and businesses across the world in making a statement in support of a greener way of life.”

Dinner by candlelight will be served in Palmira Restaurant during Earth Hour, with a special prix fixe menu option featuring a “Grow in the Dark” starter, “By Land and By Sea” entrée, and “Flambé” dessert. Concorde Lounge will highlight dark beers and rich red wines to complement the mood lighting.

The hotel is encouraging all guests and employees (both on- and off-duty) to join in by turning off all non-essential lights for one hour in support of the event.

Earth Hour originated in 2007 in the city of Sydney, Australia by the World Wildlife Foundation as a way to raise awareness among the general public to the concern for climate change. Last year, nearly 1 billion people in over 4,000 cities around the world turned off their lights to demonstrate their commitment and encourage the world to take action on one of the most urgent issues facing our planet.

About the Radisson Los Angeles Airport Hotel: Offering 580 guest rooms and 42,000 square feet of newly renovated meeting space, the Radisson LAX has recently earned Green Seal’s Silver Certification for Lodging Properties and Leadership Level participation in the California Green Lodging program.
