WiMAX Telecom wins "Best of WiMax World" award

Vienna, October 24, 2006 – WiMAX Telecom Group, the only multinational provider of WiMax services in Europe, has been given the "Best of WiMax World" award. The award was bestowed at the world's leading WiMax congress held in Boston, USA on October 10, 2006. In granting this award, the committee honored the pioneering efforts of WiMAX Telecom in Austria and Slovakia and underscored the company's position as a leading provider in this field.

WiMax is the new broadband wireless standard with a transmission range of up to 15 km. Users in more than 30 countries can now cover all their Internet and voice requirements via this technology.

Dov Bar-Gera, Chairman of the Board of WiMAX Telecom AG, is very pleased to have received this award: "The team at WiMAX Telecom has brought this new technology to the market under often very difficult conditions. Our people have invested a great deal of energy and knowledge in the development of WiMax services. I'm very proud that the international community has acknowledged our efforts by giving us this award."

The infrastructure of WiMAX Telecom is based on the current 802.16 D technology. However, the company will start to upgrade to the next generation at the beginning of 2007. Peter Ziegelwanger, CTO of WiMAX Telecom, says: "Thanks to the rapid development of this technology, we'll be able to offer our customers even better broadband mobility starting in mid-2007. By 2008 all new notebooks will come equipped with WiMax chips."

All of central and eastern Europe in its sights
With offices in Austria, Switzerland, Slovakia and Croatia, WiMAX Telecom is the only independent and multinational WiMax service provider in Europe. It hold national licenses in both Austria and Slovakia. The company's focus, however, is directed at the whole of central and eastern Europe.
