Rhys Davies Freight Logistics, the national haulage, transport and freight logistics network, has become accredited as a member of the Responsible Care Programme operated by the Chemical Business Association. The accreditation covers the warehousing and transport of chemical and hazardous products and shows that the company is aware of and complies with stringent working parameters in the chemical industry.

Responsible Care is a recognised standard that demonstrates the chemical industry’s commitment to continuous improvement in health, safety and environmental performance. It is a global initiative covering both chemical producers and distributors in 52 countries worldwide. According to the CBA, Responsible Care “… aims to develop an attitude and culture which ensures that chemicals are handled and distributed safely using constantly improving operations and techniques.” The programme provides a third-party confirmation that a distributor’s procedures are correct and working properly.

Gary Phillips, Commercial Manager for Rhys Davies says that the Responsible Care Programme has practical benefits for the company and its customers. “Responsible Care ensures that we have the correct procedures in place when handling chemicals including, for example, our arrangements for handling spillages and the segregation of products. It also has the potential to have a beneficial effect on our insurance premiums thereby helping us keep our prices competitive.”
