(openPR) - As part of an on-going program to educate Japanese researchers and scientists and foster advancement of science and technology in Japan, Forte Science Communications sought and was granted permission from University of Colorado libraries, to translate and publish their on-line tutorial for academic paper publishing. The on-line tutorial was created through a collaborative effort of the libraries of the University of Colorado and focuses on publishing in academic journals. It provides comprehensive resources about particulars of academic paper writing and publishing. The Japanese tutorial will be available initially as a series of monthly newsletter articles sent complimentary to all subscribers, and will be provided later as an interactive on-line tutorial in other formats.
Tokyo, February 4th, 2010 – University of Colorado granted permission to translate and divulge contents of its on-line tutorial for academic paper publishing to FORTE Science Communications. The Tokyo-based company serves the Japanese academic, scientific and technological communities with science language services. The University of Colorado resonated with Forte’s commitment to educate local scientists and researchers in how to publish their works in international journals, ultimately promoting the advancement of scientific inquiry.
There are approximately 827,300(1) Japanese scientists and researchers that belong to academia, research institutes and laboratories in both the public and private sectors. Despite the high per capita number of researchers and the considerable public budget spent annually by MEXT(2) and programs sponsored by JSPS(3), the number of Japanese science papers published in international journals is considered to be relatively low, attributed to the authors’ limitations in their English writing skills.
Forte is committed to help local researchers and scientists communicate with the world and to promote the local science community through its pro-bono activities and own grant-in-aid programs.
“We believe the material in the on-line tutorial would be an excellent resource in our efforts to educate Japanese professionals and graduate students about the particulars of academic paper writing in English, and to ultimately help them publish their research in their target journals” ‐says William D. Stenson, CEO and founder of Forte Inc.
The tutorial will include the basics of academic paper publishing, covering the role of academic publishing, essential steps of planning and writing a paper, publication planning, choosing from different publishing models, type of articles to write, authoring styles, tools and resources for writing, etc. The tutorial also provides hands-on interactive exercises helpful for measuring progress as learning take place.
