(openPR) - LUCKY TRIMMER takes its 14th edition up the road to the Volksbühne in Prater, Berlin / Germany.

On February 27th, 2010 a new set of short dance pieces will be presented, each no longer than 10 minutes. Eleven choreographers from Germany and abroad have been invited to show their newest creations. The spectrum of pieces span from remarkably detailed movement studies to challenging physical extremes to highly pliable performance allied with breakdance. Additionally, there is tightly wound theatricality, absurd black comedy sketches as well as a loving homage to Pina and Michael via an electro-acustic live act.

TOMI PAASONEN (FIN) will show his prize-winning solo Monogram transcribing a signature into choreographic patterns. MEYTAL BLANARU (IL) in her solo Lilly displays the difficulty in fulfilling a simple step. In MIRYAM MARIBLANCA & OLGA CLAVEL’s (E) Fill Your Mouth With Flowers we find ourselves as voyeurs of an intimate, passionate and violent encounter between two women. YARON SHAMIR (IL) struggles with the endless dilemma between being alone or being together in his piece Frozen. THE MOB & FRANK JULIE (DK) enact a surprising, hilarious and touching homage to two sacred monsters in A Tribute to Michael Jackson and Pina Bausch. RAUF YASIT ALIAS RUBBERLEGZ (D) with Last Man Standing demonstrates pure virtuosity combining breakdance and contemporary dance. CAROLINE FINN’s (GB) narrative Bernadette stumbles through as a mundane task spirals into a touchingly futile struggle against chaos. SÉVERINE LEFÈVRE & NATHAN FREYERMUTH are five strange and gloomy characters that play with the idea of suicide and death in How I Killed Myself.

LUCKY TRIMMER e.V. endeavors in addition to supporting artists, to achieve a goal of presenting a broad vision of styles, methods and themes within contemporary dance and performance. The 8 short choreographies in LUCKY TRIMMER #14 were chosen to reflect these goals out of a pool of ca. 200 applications. The maximum length of 10 minutes is the only constraint given to the applicants. Within this unique frame, LUCKY TRIMMER has existed since 2004 under the artistic direction of Clint Lutes.

LUCKY TRIMMER e.V. is a non profit organisation based in Berlin. It supports especially young national and international choreographers to create and present new productions.
