Free Digital Signage Software with API

Free Digital Signage Software with API

28th January 2010, Garbsen/Amsterdam. As one of the first digital signage software providers 42media group now offers an open application programming interface (API). It will allow developers to make their visions and ideas come true and to comply with their customers’ requirements. Minor adjustments can be implemented easily and quickly. By means of the interface instore TV networks based on Oxygen can be opened to booking platforms as well. At the Integrated Systems Europe (ISE) trade fair in Amsterdam the API will be presented to an international expert public for the first time.
With the Oxygen.next web service and the business solution Oxygen Media Platform 42media group provides the framework for the implementation of digital signage projects. An open API that allows other programs to connect to the system is the best basis for developers to make their own visions come true.

There are almost no limits in programming new applications. Besides the connection to existing ad booking platforms Oxygen users can integrate their systems into Google Maps, for example, to have the positions and statuses of their players shown on the map. Or they could feed their YouTube playlist into their players to have their videos played on the screens. A monitoring tool could be developed that shows current screenshots of all players within the instore TV network on a screen with 36 picture areas. Web-based ad booking platforms could feed advertising spots directly and automatically into the playlists of selected players.

The API also allows an adjustment of the user interface. A reduced user interface simplifies complex tasks. Tools for local editors, direct access by advertisers or a simplified content upload to a specific screen could be implemented.

The API will be available on 15th February 2010 and can be applied for all Oxygen.next projects right away. In the second step by the middle of May the API will be available to the entire Oxygen Media Platform and allow 42media customers to pursue their own visions.

Together with the official API launch 42media will start a competition for developers. From 15th February on developers can submit their own applications on www.oxygennext.com to win a Google Nexus smartphone. All applications will be rated by other Oxygen users after closing date at the end of March. The winner will be announced at the end of May.

42media group GmbH is one of the leading instore TV providers in the digital signage sector. The company seated in Garbsen near Hannover, Germany, currently has 28 employees. With the software basis for instore TV, the Oxygen Media Platform, 42media groups presents a POS marketing tool that allows to manage content centrally via the Management Suite. The easy handling via the graphic interface and the individual content planning render an individual TV program possible. All or specific branches or individually created groups can be provided with it. Topical information from RSS feeds or databases make the content dynamic. Security is focused as well: the system complies with bank standards.
