The interactive session will feature Dr. Robert M. Mark, CEO of Black Diamond Risk. Dr. Mark also serves on several boards as well as on Checkpoint’s Investment Committee. He is the Vice Chairperson of the Board of the Professional Risk Managers’ International Association (PRMIA). Prior to his current position, he was the Senior Executive Vice-President and Chief Risk Officer (CRO) at the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce (CIBC).
Joining Dr. Mark on the panel is Ms. Lisa Corpuz, Manager ERM of AAA Northern California, Nevada and Utah. Ms. Corpuz has been instrumental in building the AAA ERM framework and implementing the ERM tools and risk assessment process throughout the organization as well as increasing risk and control awareness throughout the organization from executive leadership to the business units. Additionally, Ms. Corpuz has successfully partnered with existing internal risks groups with a focus towards developing a common language of risk and proactively integrating risk processes within existing business processes. Prior to AAA, Ms. Corpuz worked at Washington Mutual and Providian Financial in both ERM and Audit functions. Ms. Corpuz also worked for the U.S. Department of Justice, where she performed government and compliance related audits.
Sophisticated Internal Audit teams are increasingly linking their audit plan to business strategies and current risks. Internal Audit function is shifting priorities from a traditional financial and compliance focus to a more operational and ERM strategy focus. This webcast will provide insights and guidance for audit managers enabling them to:
1. Incorporate a risk based policy, methodology and infrastructure benchmark assessment as part of the internal audit program
2. Ensure risk appetite is appropriately defined and extensively communicated across the organization
3. Evaluate organization’s strategies to assess risk, including the impact of cascading events that could lead to a higher risk priority and catastrophic risks
4. Define the technology infrastructure necessary to support the new Internal Audit norms with the ability to manage the organization performance
