Realistic Feedback Control Experiments complement Textbook Theory

IT, New Media & Software
Press release from: ExpertControl GmbH
(openPR) - Martinsried / Munich, Germany, January 25, 2010: The CAE software developer ExpertControl announces new feedback control experiments to enrich the education of engineers and technicians with the competence to handle technical systems with real-life characteristics.

Feedback control experiments are used in universities as complementary educational method to apply the knowledge in electrical and control engineering theory. How interesting and realistic the application of the theoretical knowledge is, depends on the kind of feedback control experiments in the laboratory. However, interesting and valuable feedback control experiments have not always been affordable for each educational institution.

Now, ExpertControl offers with new feedback control experiments respecting the price value and the educational value a fully realistic concept: budget friendly, interesting applicable and close to reality due to real-life system characteristics. Other manufacturers of experiments offer highest precision experiments where students can apply the theory of model and control design right away without any deviations from literature. Of course, to purchase such high precision systems, universities do have to spend high budgets. Consequently these experiments are simply unaffordable or universities cannot afford a sufficient quantity for all students. ExpertControl does deliberately not offer such high precision experiments: this saves money and students need to get familiar with and handle realistic effects additionally including measurement noise, stick-slip effect and slackness. With ExpertControl´s “Wheel-loader in the Test Bench” experiment for instance, universities do have the possibility to save money and increase students´ competence in handling real-life system behavior at the same time.

Further information on the above and topics in areas including closed-loop control engineering, simulation and realtime applications may be found at www.expertcontrol.com or contact ExpertControl by email info@expertcontrol.com .
