Messer once again Serbia’s best foreign brand

Industry, Real Estate & Construction
Press release from: Messer Group GmbH
(openPR) - For the fifth time in a row, industrial gases specialist Messer has won the “Best of Serbia” award for the best foreign corporate brand.

Over the past few years, the Messer brand has been developed into an important tool for product positioning and market-share retention in Serbia. “In spite of limited investment as well as declining capacity utilisation and sales at local companies across all sectors, we continued to pursue and achieve our corporate goals in 2009,” said Ernst Bode, Managing Director of Messer in Serbia, in his acceptance speech. He went on to express the hope that economic conditions would pick up again in 2010. Messer took over local gas supplier Tehnogas in 1997 and has been producing and selling medical and industrial gases under the Messer brand for 12 years.

The “Best of Serbia“ award was presented for the sixth time in December by the Serbian Ministry of Trade and Services and the Chamber of Industry and Commerce in collaboration with Serbian daily Privredni Pregled. The prize is awarded to market-oriented companies which contribute to the long-term strengthening of the Serbian economy.

Messer is one of the leading industrial gas companies, and is active in over 30 countries in Europe and Asia, as well as Peru, with over 60 operating companies. Its international activities are managed from Frankfurt am Main, whilst management of core technical functions – logistics, engineering, production and applications engineering – is undertaken from Krefeld. In 2008, about 4,700 employees generated consolidated sales of €795 million.
From acetylene to xenon, the Messer Group has one of the most diverse product portfolios on the market – it produces industrial gases such as oxygen, nitrogen, argon, carbon dioxide, hydrogen, helium, shielding gases for welding, specialty gases, medical gases and many different gas mixtures.
The Messer Group has state-of-the-art research and competence centers in which it develops applied technologies for the use of gases in almost every sector of industry, in food technology and environmental technology, medicine as well as research and science.
