ecVERSIM – Manage Simulink Model Versions on Subsystem Level and increase the Efficiency of Model Development

01-12-2010 10:44 AM CET | IT, New Media & Software

Press release from: ExpertControl GmbH

Martinsried / Munich, January 11, 2010: With ecVERSIM, ExpertControl offers a powerful software frontend for version management systems like CVS, Subversion or ClearCase in order to work with and manage Simulink models efficiently. Other than using only these basic version management systems, ecVERSIM additionally offers unique and efficiency increasing features for Simulink model development.

In model based software development projects, usually Simulink models are developed and edited by multiple engineers. Here the main problem is that engineers do not have the possibility to access the desired Simulink model when it is blocked by someone else. These conflicts do have a negative effect on the development efficiency and of course on the valuable development time. To increase the efficiency here, ecVERSIM is able to split up Simulink models at the subsystem level and treat each Simulink subsystem individually. In combination with sophisticated access rules for project members and version management capabilities at subsystem level, ecVERSIM offers the different developers to develop Simulink models simultaneously and in a well coordinated way while versioning the development progress at the subsystem level.

No other Simulink version management tool offers such an easy integration in an efficient development workflow. Due to the communication with ExpertControl´s ecDIFF and ecSTYLE softare packages, engineers do have the following additional benefits when developing Simulink models: Compare Simulink models with ecDIFF and find the differences by pressing just one button, create new model versions by merging the differences with ecDIFF´s new merge function, check Simulink models with ecSTYLE for compliance with style guidelines (e.g. MAAB, or customer specific guidelines).
