Wall-coverings special show at Heimtextil presents creative innovations
Press release from: Messe Frankfurt Exhibition GmbH
(openPR) - Foyer between Hall 5.1 and 6.1 will be the meeting place for wall-covering experts
Young people design interior and exterior walls
Heimtextil 2010 will open its doors to the international home and contract textile sector from 13 to 16 January and present unique range of products to trade visitors from all over the world. Communication, information and promoting young people are im¬portant aspects of the home-textile industry and trade. As a source of impulses for the sector, Heimtextil 2010 will therefore be dis¬tinguished by a variety of platforms where everyone in the market can exchange information and ideas. In 2010, the interdisciplinary focus of the world’s leading fair will be wall coverings and, as in previous years, wallpaper will be a highlight and demonstrate its versatility with a host of new creations. In the foyer between Halls 5.1 and 6.1, there will be several special shows including ‘Wallpaper Tuning’, a spectacular collection combining traditional and modern ideas, which introduces the work of young European designers in connection with interior walls.
Foyer between Hall 5.1 and 6.1 will be the meeting place for wall-covering experts
On Stand A02, Markus Benesch presents Curious Boy, a new label comprising three collections of digital wall coverings, as well as trendy furniture, lamps and accessories also made of wallpaper. The new collection awakens people’s curiosity, is avant-garde and has brought new ideas to life. It is the work of designer Markus Benesch, the inventor of the Rapoxy coating system and the Rasch Colorflage Collection, a wallpaper collection that pushes aside time-honoured patterns of thought and traditions in the wallpaper industry – non-repeating patterns and colours, as well as print overs and pattern clashes on existing wallpaper = wallpaper tuning! The uses for these wall coverings are not limited to walls but include all dimensions in the home. In this connection, Markus Benesch and his team will hold a workshop entitled ‘Fantastic Wallpaper! The creative revolution’ at 11.00 and 16.30 hrs daily during the fair, “and show how floors, pieces of furniture and accessories can be made and designed using wallpaper and Rapoxy coating.”
Visitors will find more creative wallpaper highlights at Stand A06 where they can see the result of the collaboration between Charles Graser Daughters and industrial designer Christian Haas, a spectacular new collection of wall coverings. With his ‘Faundasie’ wallpaper, for example, Christian Haas has interpreted the subject of ‘Tradition meets Modern’ in a particularly elegant way. This wallpaper is produced using traditional methods and the combination of screen printing with water colours and a long-fibre fleece gives it a hand-made and natural character.
Young people design interior and exterior walls
Promoting young people is an important aspect of every Heimtextil. Thus, in addition to the Young Contract Creations Award: Wall (Hall 5.0, Stand B35), which has been organised for the second time by Messe Frankfurt in cooperation with Villeroy & Boch and ‘hotelbau’ trade magazine, visitors and exhibitors can also see the New Walls, please! competition at the fair. While the Wall Award calls on young designers to design a facade or interior for a bar, café or restaurant, which draws its inspiration from UNESCO World Heritage Site Havana, ‘New Walls, Please!’ focuses solely on the interior. This is the seventh time that A.S. Création wallpaper foundation has joined forces with the German Design Council (Rat für Formgebung) to hold this wallpaper and wall design competition for students and young designers throughout Europe. The results reflect that current interest being shown by young designers in interior wall design, which this year has been greatly influenced by urban centres and new technologies.
The designs will be shown with the support of Messe Frankfurt during Heimtextil 2010 in a special exhibition in the foyer of Halls 5.1 and 6.1 (Stand A04). The awards ceremony will be held at the special exhibition at 11.00 hrs on Thursday, 14 January.
