Press release from: Opticfit, Inc

Los Angeles, California – (10 December 2009) –The newly installed fiber optic connection program Fit&Right provides the city of Los Angeles’ health care system with additional speed and reliability. Opticfit is lighting the way with its 4,600-mile fiber optic network enabling high bandwidth capability. The city’s health care system would never be the same again. It will transform the way patients receive health care and how medical information is shared among health-care providers by connecting hospitals, patient clinics and a wide variety of other health-care entities.

“We are tremendously looking forward to bring the future of health care to those patients we serve with Fit&Right,” said Jack Razer, President and CEO of Los Angeles Health System. “The benefits of technological advances, such as telemedicine and efficient records exchange are numerous. These new capabilities will directly increase the overall quality of care experienced by patients.”

Fit&Right will provide a resource to share health information between participants in health care throughout Los Angeles and other neighboring places, particularly in remote rural areas. Fit&Right also is working to provide additional telehealth and telemedicine applications. The network will be able to connect to other health-care providers and databases around the country, using the national network backbone capabilities of Internet2 and National LambdaRail, which are designed exclusively for research and education.

The Los Angeles Health System made available a core fiber optic network running through Los Angeles, and with the help of Opticift’s fiber optic components (FOC) including Ethernet converters, gigabit converter and transceiver modules like mini GBIC, HP SFP and Cisco XENPAK, it has created large bandwidth connections to that fiber core. Fit&Right will be one of the first functional networks in the nation to offer the capability of multi-state connectivity.

“By launching Fit&Right, we are enabling health-care providers to help eliminate the challenges sometimes created by the physical distance between urban and rural health-care facilities,” Razer said.

Opticfit will use six fiber connections to link the health-care entities, including private clinics, physicians, pharmacies, medical laboratories, insurance providers and other organizations in the health-care delivery cycle in several locations around Los Angeles. Now, patients and health care professionals will benefit from speeds of approximately 25 Mbps through an all-fiber technology platform. This is made possible through the usage of FOCs such as SFP transceivers, GLC SX MM and 1000base GBIC.

Opticfit currently provides fiber optic products and solutions throughout the state to Los Angeles companies, cities and technology parks, campuses and many other organizations. It continues to expand its fiber optic services to all areas of the state with the goal of providing clients with high speed state-of-the-art fiber optic connectivity.
