(openPR) - In the long run, building first-class technology is not enough: A company must also be able to impart this knowledge.
In the year of the 10th anniversary, the managers of MVTec Software GmbH, Munich, Germany, come up with something special: a presentation case representing the essence of machine vision, the MVTec Vision Kit.
Machine Vision is a multi purpose technology that is increasingly used worldwide in industry but also in medical technology. But only a few specialists already know what this technology is able to do at this stage. A machine vision system is composed of one ore more special cameras, an illumination device, a data transfer unit, and a computer to process and analyze the accordant images. However, the nucleus of any machine vision system is software.
MVTec, the only exclusive developer of machine vision standard software worldwide, now breaks new ground. MVTec’s software has about 20 years of experience under its belt. The MVTec engineers are dedicated to machine vision since its origin. After the machine vision market definitely has reached maturity, now it depends to customize this technology. Thus, beside the technological expertise MVTec wants to utilize its didactic competence.
One year ago, during a discussion on a machine vision specialist board a journalist pointed out: "What is it worth reporting about your work, if you are not able to explain in simple words what you are doing?" For MVTec, it is important to care about handing on special knowledge without giving the audience a headache. In the field of high tech, this is a challenging venture.
For Dr. Wolfgang Eckstein, MVTec’s managing director, this is a logical step resulting from the know-how that MVTec acquired over the years: “We are a company that mainly employs developing engineers. We build high technology. If there is something possible by machine vision, MVTec has contributed to it. A company that works in a segment like this always must think about how to reach customers and to point out what all is possible. However, in industry didactic concepts concerning this matter are few and far between.”
Eckstein and his team have agonized over it. As a result, the MVTec Vision Kit was developed. Its slogan “Hands-on Machine Vision” describes what this case effects: The MVTec Vision Kit mostly hides complex and complicated technology parts. Thus, this case enables all of MVTec’s distribution partners to clearly and directly depict the almost unlimited possibilities of this powerful technology to potential customers. All live showcased examples have their origin directly from industrial applications. The presented solutions exactly face up the problems that engineers have to cope with day-to-day.
Accordingly, the MVTec Vision Kit is composed of an aluminum case with exemplary objects from common industrial production, illumination devices, and one camera, which are quickly assembled. In combination with a notebook, this results in a complete machine vision system: Plug in, play up, and marvel, how easy machine vision works. All this is based on MVTec’s standard software HALCON.
Regarding MVTec’s customer support, the MVTec Vision Kit represents a missing link. Now, the entire support concept can be divided into 4 steps: 1. free application evaluation (including consultancy for a software solution); 2. easy visualization (with the MVTec Vision Kit); 3. customer training; 4. easy using (implementation with optimal usability).
