WeWebU Software AG and Alfresco Agree upon Cooperation
Press release from: WeWebU Software AG
(openPR) - Herzogenaurach, 11/02/2009 – WeWebU Software AG, maker of standard software for Enterprise Information Management (EIM), has announced its technological cooperation with Alfresco Software. Thus, the software house and Advanced Business Partner of IBM consequently follows its strategy of increasingly opening itself and its products to further vendors. Alfresco is the leading open source alternative for Enterprise Content Management (ECM). It couples the innovation of open source with the stability of a high-performance business solution. The open source model guarantees cutting-edge technology and a permanent, fast further development as well as the realization of custom requirements at conceivably low costs. With this new technological cooperation and the possibilities for customers arising from it, WeWebU wants to address especially medium-sized enterprises.
“By now, the Alfresco ECM platform is a real alternative to the established vendors, even for business critical applications. Just like Alfresco, WeWebU banks on open standards in product development. Based on the Alfresco platform and using CMIS (Content Management Interoperability Services), we provide several vertical solutions for file as well as business process management, e.g. for the industries of banking, insurance or public administration. Thus, we are one of the ‘first movers’ in the emerging market of so called Content Enabled Vertical Applications (CEVA). We can show our customers how they can use their document-centric applications without any dependency on the underlying ECM infrastructure for a long time. This protects investments and creates a great deal of independence from single vendors,” says Stefan Waldhauser, CEO and Chairman of the Executive Board of WeWebU Software AG.
“We are very glad about this cooperation. With WeWebU we found a valuable partner that will innovatively and successfully push product development with Alfresco based on open standards. Via CMIS, WeWebU applications can be perfectly integrated with the Alfresco ECM platform. Thus, WeWebU offers a complete and really flexible solution to its customers that meets in an optimal way the numerous and increasingly demanding requirements of an enterprise-wide usage,” explicates Christian Thiede, Sales Director Germany & Austria of Alfresco.
Initially, WeWebU OpenWorkdesk, a suite of ECM applications with an intuitive Web 2.0 front-end, will be offered as a package with the Alfresco platform. To this end, a new adapter based on the standard CMIS will be used for the first time. CMIS is supported by all large vendors and is expected to be released early next year. As Alfresco Systems Integrator and Alfresco Solutions Partner, WeWebU plans to provide its whole product portfolio based on the Alfresco platform.
The connection to such open source systems will in the future allow WeWebU to provide a considerably broader offering covering a wider range of requirements to a more diverse clientele, because the infrastructure costs are just related to the extend of technical assistance provided by the respective vendor.
For the first time, WeWebU Software AG will attend the Alfresco Meetup as an exhibitor on November 3, 2009, in Sheraton Hotel & Towers, Conference Center in Frankfurt.
