Since May 2006 the Cologne based news channel n-tv offers its podcast service – and it is a huge success. Already after the first two months the download numbers exceeded 50.000. The concept: Directly after they have been broadcasted in TV, different news and economy programs are accessible on the n-tv website for free. Using software like Apples iTunes or other programmes like iPodder the video or audio files can be played-back easily – absolutely independent from the original broadcasting time.
In the background S4M’s Video Production Management System provides for the smooth operation of the podcast functionality. VPMS is S4M's solution for professional creation, management, editing and distribution of digital video material. At n-tv the system is already involved in the whole TV production HiRes Workflow from automatic video ingest over (rough)cut and voice over up to monitoring of data communication to the play out server.
Now, VPMS additionally enables TV Stations to produce podcasts in the most easy way. The appropriate program can simply be chosen and then will be transferred into a podcast directly from the Newsroom. Titles or logos etc. can be added fully automatically as well.
In fine: At n-tv VPMS provides for podcast production with just one mouseclick! And if the program shall be edited for the podcast nevertheless – using VPMS this is possible as well fast and effective.
